1925 A1 Berkshire (Gumboots Locomotive Works) Unread post

It's finished. No, really.
A1_Berkshire_BeautyShot_A.jpg

There are still ways it could be taken further, if anyone has the time and energy, but it's nice as is and looks the part, IMHO. I may revamp it at some stage, and of course anyone else is more than welcome to use this as a basis for their own modifications. The way I look at it, Hoborailcat got us started on Berkshires, then Lirio did a bit more to it. Now I've done my bit. It's a community asset. No rights reserved.

PSD's for locomotive and tender are stashed on my desktop, but the two together are currently around 21 megabytes, even zipped. Not sure if Hawk wants to host those or not (let me know).

-----------------------------------

Details are:

Represents a 1925 Lima-built A1 Berkshire.

Available from 1925 to 1948 inclusive, in NA, Euro or World.

Stats are chosen to give a reasonable profitability advantage over the game's H10 Mikado, while still representing other A1 Berkshire characteristics.

Colour scheme is a cross between the Lima demonstrator and Boston & Maine liveries, just to make it look slick without being any particular locomotive.

LCO and CAR files go in the Data/EngineTypes folder.

PK4 file goes in the Data/UserExtraContent folder.

Sure! Why not.

Why not zip it all up into one package, with a read me s'plainin' what it all is. You can upload it on the upload page of the site. :salute:

K. Cleaned them up a bit and zipped them.

The upload page isn't responding very well at the moment so I'll try again later (we have a storm brewing not far from here and it may be interfering with my wireless).

I'll take a look at my documentation for this thing too (.3dp file bookmarking, etc) and see if I can make something useful out of that. Those are in HexEditoNeo's proprietary format so wont import into other editors, but I can do a few screenshots.

Got it uploaded. File name is A1_Berkshire_Loco_andTender_PSD.7z. Yes, there was supposed to be another underscore between "and" and "Tender" but I named the file before having my first coffee of the day. You get that. :-D

I used 7zip with maximum compression and got it down to 14.5 meg. If you want to extract the file and don't have 7zip, you can get it here: http://www.7-zip.org/

If you're after patterns and brushes used in this thing, the ones that were mainly used are these two sets:

Arc's Rivets + Metal Brushes by Arkyrra

Rust Photoshop Patterns Set #2 by cesstrelle

Hmmm? I figured you put everything in the zip file.
I'll merge the two and get it ready for the archives.

Well I figured some people might just want the locomotive files to use in the game, and not want to have to download 15 meg of PSD's as well. So I thought it'd be better to give them the game files in a seperate zip. I don't mind if you want to merge them though.

Actually if you are going to do that, I can load up another 7z with all the trimmings. I just remembered that I didn't include the complete PSD for the drivewheels. I made those by themselves at a larger scale first, then just shrunk them as two layers and pasted them into the main PSD. I could throw in the whole box of tricks for those, as well as some large scale rivet strips.

Now that you mention it, it might be better to split them up.

Why don't you make another package of just the editing stuff and I'll provide two separate downloads.
You're probably right in that most folks won't have a need for the psd stuff.

No prob. It was largely enjoyable and I learned a fair amount out of it.

@Hawk: I'll also whip up a points map with the various hex blocks highlighted, like I did for the Atlantic and H10 but in more user-friendly format. Then the whole lot can just be called A1 Berky Dev Toolkit or something similar. Should still come in under 20 meg even with the extra screenshots.

Size isn't an issue. The upload page can handle uploads up to 200 MB.
